1. Place and Time
Competition will be held on 4th and 5th October, 2014 at Sigulda State gymnasium, K.Barona iela 10, Sigulda, Latvia. Preliminary application until Wednesday, 1st October, 17.00.
2. Management
The competition is organized and run by the Sigulda District Council Sports Department in cooperation with the Riga Chess Federation and Grandmaster Alexei Shirov. 3. System, time control
11 rounds Swiss system, FIDE rules, FIDE rapid chess rating calculation.
Time control 12 min + 5 sec/move. Chief arbiter has the right to make changes.
4. Participants and entry fee
Tournament is open for all chess lowers who have FIDE ID number.
Entry fee 8 EUR.
Entry fee 6 EUR for participants by notice in advance until October 1st (17.00) by sending your name, city of residence, FIDE ID number, FIDE rating to alberts.cimins@inbox.lv .
Participation for Sigulda District inhabitants (district ID card owners) is free of charge.
GM/IM/WGM/WIM no entry fee. Limited amount of GM can apply for free accommodation in hotel, limited amount WGM, WIM, IM can apply for free accommodation in hostel.
Number of participants in the tournament may be limited.
5. Awarding
Prize fund of tournament is 1600 EUR. 1st – 10th prize – EUR 300, 200, 180, 160, 140, 120, 100, 80, 60, 50. The prize fund consists of 100% of the contributions from participants and sponsors. Best chess players of Sigulda District: 1st – 3rd place: medals. Prizes may change.
Best female, best young (2000 born and younger) and best senior (born 1954 and older) are awarded with a cup and a cash prize. Two rating prizes for each 12 players rating group (starting 11th rating) and prize for best representative of foreign chess federation will be paid. One tournament participant may receive no more than one cash prize.
Higher place in case of equal points is determined by: 1) improved Buchholz coefficient, 2) Buchholz coefficient, 3) RPT (Rating performance in tournament).
